Curriculum

LaSalle Catholic College offers students a wide range of subjects and academic opportunities. Students move from a largely compulsory curriculum in Years 7 to 10 to a curriculum characterised by a wide choice in Years 11 and 12.

Year 7 to 10 Curriculum (Stages 4 & 5)

Compulsory subjects for Years 7 & 8

Catholic Studies, English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Music, Italian, Technology, Visual Arts, Personal Development/Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and Sport.

Compulsory subjects for Years 9 & 10

Catholic Studies, English, Mathematics, Science, History & Geography, PDHPE and Sport.

Elective subjects for Years 9 & 10

Commerce, Information and Software Technology, Graphics Technology, Food Technology, Industrial Technology/Timber, Industrial Technology/Multimedia, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Activity and Sport Studies (PASS) and Big History.

Year 11 and 12 Curriculum – Higher School Certificate (Stage 6)

Compulsory subjects for Years 11 & 12

Religious Education (Studies of Religion I and II or Catholic Studies), English Standard, Advanced or English Studies, Fundamentals of English.

Elective subjects for Years 11 & 12

Mathematics, General Mathematics, Extension I & II (Year 12 only), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Senior Science, Economics, Business Studies, Geography, Legal Studies, Ancient History, Modern History, Music, Visual Arts, PDHPE, Information Processes & Technology, Industrial Technology Timber, Industrial Technology Multimedia, Food Technology, English Extension I and II (Year 12 only).

Vocational Education Courses in Years 11 & 12 (on-site)

Construction, Hospitality, Information & Digital Technology, Business Services – Office Administration, Sport, Fitness and Recreation.

Trade Training Courses Years 11/12 (on-site Saint Yon) TTC

Automotive, Construction, Electrotechnology, Metals & Engineering. These along with our VET courses can be used to commence an in school apprenticeship in conjunction with the HSC.

TAFE Courses in Years 11 & 12 (off-site)

Students can access a wide variety of TAFE courses that provide training in a future career. There are a number of TAFE Colleges where LaSalle students can complete courses in Years 11 and 12.
